Java Monkey

Adorable Monkey Coffee Cozy


Again, I borrowed the original pattern from a Ravelry pattern by Lynn Szwalkiewicz

It was published in her Craftiblog first. It was just the cozy. "littletoe" from Ravelry had added the monkey cuteness. I just wrote down the pattern


H hook

worsted weight yard (2 colors)


Cozy Pattern


Chain 34. Join to first chain to form a loop.

1: chain 1, sc in each chain around, do not join (33 sc)

2: sc in first sc, mark this stitch. 2 sc in next sc. (sc in next sc) around, do not join.

3: sc in first sc, mark this stitch. (sc in next sc) around, do not join.

4-11 repeat rows 2 and 3

optional, sc around top and bottom with contrasting color.

Rows 1-11 in brown (light color), 12-15 remaining in green (darker color)


Mouth: in dark color

Chain 6

Row 1: turn, sc in 2nd chain from hook. 3 sc, 3 sc in last stitch, sc on opposite side of chain, 3sc in last stitch

Row 2: continue in the round, *5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc, 2 sc in next* repeat to end

Row 3: *6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc, 2 sc in next* repeat to end. Cut with LONG tail to attach to cozy.


Ears, in dark color

Chain 3,

4 sc in 2nd chain, turn

2: 2 sc in each sc
